The purpose is pleasure is “good”
To help us to learn what we should
But by that same token a trap
Distracting us into mishap
We should enjoy sweetness in season
But train ourselves to see the reason
Is pleasure a wholesome reward
Or covering pain that I hoard?
Christ calls us to pierce through the veil
And sometimes, our feet He will nail
So He can delusions dispel
As we drink His joy-living well
