Today I will listen for heaven’s melody
When my narrative feels all askew
My heart cries out for a rescue
But what I need more
Is my film to rescore
As Jesus’ song transforms my view
Today I will listen for heaven’s melody
When my narrative feels all askew
My heart cries out for a rescue
But what I need more
Is my film to rescore
As Jesus’ song transforms my view
As Father you feel quite demanding
Because you see Me as expanding
For your love to know
My Self I must grow
Far beyond past understanding
Rejoice first. Give better.
Stress is a choice that we make
Of trashy demands that we take
When identity
Is how you think of me
Status becomes thirst I can’t slake
The reason I feel insignificant
Is hard problems feel like a sign I can’t
Do what I must
To win back the trust
Of those of whose hearts I’m a supplicant
“I will be there when you run out”
Continue readingWhat are the contents of heaven
With which this world we must leaven?
The grace of Christ
Bought at great price
Turns up our love to eleven!
Take my life
And let it be
Con-secreting
Love like thee
This world has its ups and its downs
Sometimes it’s more crosses than crowns
But if we can dance
To God’s great romance
Our worst days still feel like playgrounds
If we’re to fill the world
With His luminosity
We must display
Inverse animosity
An open door’s like a blank page
That can feel like walking onstage
The fear of unknown
Or worse, being shown
I’m better off locked in a cage
The key to conquering
Insecurity
Is learning to see You
As You see me
If we want to dwell in the place
Where we get to bask in God’s grace
Then we must be willing to leave
Our skeptical self-centered sieve
It’s true that there’s days when it seems
That I’m cursed with impossible dreams
But maybe that’s when I must see
“I AM” can do all things — with me!
John 1:37 And when the two disciples heard John say this, they left him and followed Jesus.
How can I lead loved ones to see
That they should trust You and not me?
When we’re in the throes of disgrace
We need to stare God in the face
As Christ on the cross
Makes gold from our dross
And trumps all our shame with His Ace
Maybe it’s me, but it seems
St. Joseph had realistic dreams:
A wife who was faithful and true
A home with honest work to do
We must learn how to get our Lamb-Ons
If we are to defeat our Lions
For this is the hour
When giving up power
Frees us to conquer our Zions
It’s easy to think we are beaten
When we see the years locusts have eaten
But we know we will come out ahead
When we start to eat locusts instead!
If we’re to live life that is glorious
We must believe God is now One with us
When power I lose
I’m still free to choose
For I can align with His plan for us
Sometime we show Mercy from Fear
Because our own judgement is near
Sometimes we show Mercy from Pride
To boast we have nothing to hide
To those who receive it’s the same
As long as they stay in the game
