Ruth had many days

Meditations from my cousin, John Dayalan Edward.
It’s in moments of great weakness we discover His strength as we are turned towards Him
And it is moments of brokenness that brings out the best of fragrance from us, as we are at His feet.
There are many types of prayer, for many reasons and occasions. This is my current preferred practice for “prevailing” prayer — when I am not ready to take no for an answer.Continue reading
Dedicated to my Father.
- God is in control.
- We are absolutely on track for the future He has for us and our loved ones.
- How quickly and thoroughly we yield to Him determines how fast and painful it will be to reach that future
ASK Better Questions
a) What in Ernie needs to change?
b) What in me needs to change?
- Set a time to seek the Holy Spirit for answers
- Write down whatever you hear
- Present it to me as “This is what I think I heard,”
- Not “This is what I think you should do.”
RSVP stands for the four steps I have been using to help my spirit align with God’s purposes for my life:
- Rejoice: Meditate on yesterday’s emotional highs and lows until you find a way to rejoice in them
- Shalom: Repeat until you can rest in God’s peace. Over time your “set point” of how much peace you expect will increase.
- Vision: From that place of Peace, ask God what to focus on today. As part of this, I like to read a short devotional, look up relevant Bible verses, and God for a single “theme” word for the day to prime my thinking.
- Praise: Finish by affirming God’s sovereignty over everything that is going to happen, and thanking Him for showing up.
We acknowledge you as our King.
Free us from sin so we can be happy with you
Teach us how to respect each other,
and help each other feel valuable,
So we can work together to spread your Kingdom.
We ask this by the blood of Jesus. Amen.
Thank you for choosing us to be your children.
Remind us our identity is in you; and not what we have, want or do.
Please heal our triggers, and teach us to not trigger others,
So we can freely enjoy and boldly share your love.
We ask this in Jesus name, Amen
John 1:12 (MSG)
But whoever did want him,
who believed he was who he claimed
and would do what he said,
He made to be their true selves,
their child-of-God selves.
Ephesians 1:4-5 (MSG)
Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love.
Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.
Thank you that our family belongs to you.
We confess we need you to free us from our sin and shame so we can love like Jesus.
Give us the grace to:
- Trust you with our desires
- Face our fears
- Reflect on our anger
- Speak the truth in love, and
- Ask for help along the way
We ask this by the blood of Jesus, Amen.
Teach us how to leave each other the way you love us.
Make us more like Jesus as we let go of what we want.
Help us hear your voice and obey you
so we can enjoy your abundant life.
We ask this in Jesus name.
Psalm 151A psalm of Ernie, while waiting for funding
Bless the Lord, O my soul.
Exalt His holy name.
For the LORD is good at being God, and deserves the highest praise.
The evil one laid many snares for me
Wicked and immature men plotted against me
But the Lord delivered me from them all.
Death, where is thy victory?
Shame, where is thy sting?
Though He slay me, yet will I praise Him.
Even if my body should be burned, and all my possessions sold to the poor, yet I shall be rich in Him.
His rod of justice and staff of correction, they comfort me in my light and momentary afflictions, for they are achieving an eternal weight of glory.
Rejoice, you who call on the name of the Lord. Remember all His mercies towards us. His kindness never fails. His love never ends.
Bless the Lord, all Ye children of Zion. Praise Him with harmonica and ukulele, with GarageBand and six-string guitar.
All those who surrender to Him will never be put to shame.
Bless the Lord, O my soul.
Rohan: Alleluia! Sing with gladness on this holy, happy morning.
Anjali: Alleluia! Christ has risen on this joyous Easter morning.
A hardcore version of The Sinner’s Prayer. From a dream I had on December 26, 2015.
God, I am a f***ing sinner, and I deserve to die. Save me from myself. Do whatever you have to do to burn away all the sin in me, so that I can become like you. I ask this by the blood of Jesus, Amen.
