TRG-S6E3: All Creation Groans

Standard

Join us on The Great Reset (via Zoom or YouTube Live at Tue Dec 15 1PM PST) as we wrestle with Ted’s challenge about how to love the whole world More Like Jesus.

Question: Why did God place us in a world full of brokenness and pain?

Perspective: So we could share in the glory that only comes from becoming more like Jesus.

Not at all what we planned, but exactly what we needed

Specifically, this week we plan to practice being Discipled by Scripture using Romans 8:22-30:

For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us. We were given this hope when we were saved. (If we already have something, we don’t need to hope for it. But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.)

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.

    13:16:18 Ernie Prabhakar : Questions:
What has been most exciting/challenging about following through with Loving More Like Jesus?
How and where did you see Jesus in that?
Is there anything else making it hard for you to engage in today’s session?
(optional): Can I pray for you about that?
    13:20:42 Ernie Prabhakar : David, ask a follow-up?
13:20:49 Ernie Prabhakar : Or hand off
13:24:03 Steven McGriff : It is a hard and challenging question, for sure, a load to process
13:25:12 Steven McGriff : The self-reflection often uncovers a soreness or challenge we are confronted with … being confronted by God is like being in court! Where the Judge asks you to explain yourself.
13:36:10 Steven McGriff : Let’s keep praying through this topic that Janet is sharing
13:36:21 David Johnson to Ernie Prabhakar (Direct Message) : I was not expecting this. Hope you are…
13:38:37 Ernie Prabhakar to David Johnson (Direct Message) : Not expecting. Not entirely surprised. You want to moderate?
13:39:14 David Johnson to Ernie Prabhakar (Direct Message) : I assume that I am by default, so yeah. I mostly plan to let them handle it, trusting the two of them for the most part.
13:40:15 Ernie Prabhakar to David Johnson (Direct Message) : +1
13:55:24 David Johnson : Yes, please pray for Arturo
