Type I Response
- I feel pain
- Someone just did something
- I see what they did wrong
- I blame them for my pain
- It is because they are broken
- I try to fix them
- They do not let me
- This implies they will cause me more pain
- I escalate or run away
- I need them to repent before I can feel safe
Type II Response
- I feel pain
- Someone just did something
- I see what they did wrong
- I take ownership of my pain
- It is because their brokenness triggered mine
- I bring that to Jesus
- I ask Him which part of me is still tender from past wounds
- I let His Blood speak healing into that wound
- I receive grace and feel release
- I speak grace to the ones who hurt me
- I no longer fear that pain
- Now I am ready to begin the hard work of reconciliation
