I am… a hairdresser.
It is the 1950s
In the deep south
Where a certain class of women
And their young
All white
Come every week
To share their longings
And gossip
I look to My Father.
He says:
“It is easy to judge
From a distance
The follies
Of others“Yet I did not
Send My Son
Into the world
To condemn it“But rather…”
“To woo a Bride!”
