I see Jesus.

He is… pausing.

On the edge of the cliff
I fell down
To be crushed

He is teaching
His resurrected ones
To build a covered bridge
Across the chasm
I could not cross

Like a horizontal
Tower of Babel
Of wood not stone

To connect
Not unify

Under
His authority
Not against it

From faith
Not fear

I see myself.

My spirit
Watches
Those who labor

My body
Does nothing
But nourish the earth
Until…

A tree grows.

Fed
By my sacrifice
And my folly

Connecting
The place
Of the holy dead
With the unholy living

Holding up
The unfinished bridge
Until Jesus…
