I AM looking for a friend in you.

Today’s Most Important Challenge is…
- To remember
- What we are doing
- And why we are doing it
Held In Scripture (Hosting Ignatian Spirituality)
Continued from My Greatest Treasure
I see Jesus.
He is… dead.
Betrayed
To His enemies
By His friends
Hanged
In disgrace
In the public square
I see myself.
Weeping in the shadows
Broken
Alone
Despondent
Hating myself
For not saving Him
Yet knowing
This was His plan
All along
I hear a voice.
I look around
To the left
And the right
But nobody is there
Only a whisper
Hanging in the air
Saying:
“Take heart…”
“There is still a Way!”
To be continued
Response
What did I experience Jesus as?
- Authoritative
- Sacrificed
- Absent
Consolation
How did I move toward Jesus?
- By refusing to save Him
- By grieving the cost of obedience
- By holding the tension
- By listening in the dark
Scripture
“God, I’m crying out to you! I lift up my voice boldly to beg for your mercy. I spill out my heart to you and tell you all my troubles.
Psalms 142:1-4 TPT
For when I was desperate, overwhelmed, and about to give up, you were the only one there to help. You gave me a way of escape from the hidden traps of my enemies.
I look to my left and right to see if there is anyone who will help, but there’s no one who takes notice of me. I have no hope of escape, and no one cares whether I live or die.”
