6/25 Epic Poem: Christ Yield

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.

John 3:17

If we want our worlds to be healed
We must show them how to Christ yield
Let others obsess over Law
Our job is Gracing each flaw

That’s much easier said than it’s done
But that is why God killed His Son
And if we would disciples be
Our path must nail that same tree

This is the norm we embrace:
The beauty of seeing Christ’s face
Is stronger than all earthly power
And what we need most in this hour

Yet if we dare prove that Word true
Our own righteousness we must rue
For sin-frozen hearts will not budge
If we take the role of a judge

The alternative is quite near
But frankly it fills me with fear:
The boundary twixt you and I
Is what Jesus claims now must die

It’s hard to see why He would ask
Such a nonsensical task
How can I fulfill His plan
Without that which makes me a man?

Yet this is the revolution
Presaged by incarnation
God’s plan to redeem His Bride
Made Him cast godhood aside

And that is how Christ showed them Who’s boss
By yielding His Self on a cross
Proving that eternity
Breaks through when I lose Me

And this the glorious fate
That lurks behind the narrow gate
When Christ-yielding you see me show
Closer to Him we all grow

Today I will Yield
the Rite of Way
