Radically Happy

Boaz stood up at the gate
To take widow Ruth as his mate
He wanted to do all things right
In front of both God and man’s sight

There’s much he could have done instead
Of taking the name of the dead
But redemption he did not shirk
And so became part of God’s work

“Moreover, Ruth the Moabitess, the widow of Mahlon, I have acquired as my wife, to perpetuate the name of the dead through his inheritance, that the name of the dead may not be cut off from among his brethren and from his position at the gate. You are witnesses this day.”
