Poem: Toll Taken

Published by

on

The world takes it toll
On the road of our soul
It oft hurts like hell
When we hear that toll bell

Yet Christ paid the price
To salt paths free from ice
And new asphalt was laid
By the blood that He paid

To us grace was giv’n
For a highway to heaven
But the trail that He blazed
Is a cross that was raised

So all this world’s schemes
Are but fuel for our dreams
What our foes think will staunch us
Become rockets to launch us

So fear not delays
As we follow Christ’s ways
Every bite on our heel
Will His glory reveal
