Radically Happy

I stand in the heart of darkness / With the darkest of hearts / And let their evil osmotically pull / The grace of God from me // Absorbing their sins / Filling them with Hope…

I see a well / Capped / To contain the raging fire within / That is somehow also living water // I look for Jesus. / He looks at me / And smiles / “Will you open the gate?”

I trip over the edge of something / And fall into emptiness / I am tempted to curse / But instead… / I look for Jesus.

I presume I am being sent to look for something / But I have forgotten what // Either they really trust me / Or I am the most expendable…

I wonder / If I need to help Him / By pointing out things / In His blind spot

And when I see Him / I become happy too // Why didn’t I do this sooner? // Why don’t I do this always? //

I ask: why doesn’t everyone receive from you? / Why do they have to go through me? / I am such a poor Reflection / I weep

I look for Jesus. / I don’t see Him. / But I see a phone / On the table next to me…

Maybe I’m just deluded / I could be throwing away my reputation / My identity / Everything I spent my life building // My company will fire me / My family disown me / My friends despise me / (Again)

Our forces are scattered / Our leaders incompetent / Supplies unreliable / Mission vital but unclear // It is hell…

I am… a crowd of midgets / Deeply angry / Superficially happy // We appear calm and peaceful / As long as we keep our distance…

He is walking around me / Clothed in white armor / Keeping the darkness away // No // **_Pushing_** the darkness away…

I look for Jesus. / He is there / Exactly where He is supposed to be / Standing at the altar // Except… / He isn’t looking at me / Or for me // My heart breaks…

I take the purple sash from my hips / And tie it around my neck / Like a superhero cape // The crown of thorns / Stays on my waist / Like Batman’s utility belt…
