I am… a mongoose.

Hunting snakes
Not because I fear them
Or wish to protect others

Simply
Because I am hungry

I see Jesus.

But only
As a fact
Of my reality

Not a person.

Because my brain
Is wired for survival
Instead of relationship

I do not have a place
To hold
The emotions of others

Or even my own.

But then
I hear Him speak
And call me
With a new name
As He says:

“Come hunt with me!”
