10/23 Limericks: Adam’s Unnamable Fear

When Adam gave each thing its name
Back then he had no word for “shame”
It could not be taught
Til he had been caught
And felt what it feels like to blame

We have the same predicament
Interpreting what Christ has meant
We can’t even dream
The joy of “redeem”
Until He has straightened what’s bent

The challenge disciples now face
Is similarly to define “grace”
What Adam has lost
Christ wins at great cost
As we put ourselves in their place
