Poem: Re-Storyed We

Published by

Christ came to re-story
What sin has de-stroyed
By sharing His glory
Union unalloyed

We’re made for each other
A narrative team
Yet loving my brother
Seems too hard a dream

I cannot let others
Dictate what I feel
If given my druthers
Let me choose what’s real

Yet saving my ego
Means living alone
If I’m to be hero
Your soul I must own

But what if instead
It is others I please?
Then I’ll soon live in dread
As I beg on my knees

It seems I must find
A superior option
By fixing my mind
On heaven’s adoption

This war between us
Is living like orphans
We scream and we lust
As slaves to endorphins

If we truly felt
Our shared Father’s love
Then our hearts would melt
Like hands in a glove

No longer would I
Need to fight You for Me
But just rest with a sigh
As His re-storyed We
