Radically Happy

In the Kingdom
Of this world
We define good news
Via the Law

We are glad
When we find a good law
Overturn a bad law
Or escape a harsh law

That is only natural

The good news
Of Christ’s Grace
Is alien
To our world

We rightly want
The guilty punished
And the innocent free

In His Gospel
The Innocent was punished
So we guilty
Could become free

Citizens
Of His Kingdom
Rejoice
When persecuted
Falsely accused
Even killed
For His name’s sake

To belong
To His Kingdom
Makes us aliens
To this one

Maybe the good news
Is simply finding out
We were aliens
All along
