[aka Hegelian Prayer: Asking for God’s synthesis, not just our thesis]
God wants whole-y pray-ers
He accepts
And sometimes grants
Fragmentary prayers
For our side to prevail
But longs for those
Who pray for the Whole
Will of God to be done
Across all people
On earth as it is
In Heaven
Not trading on our own special
Relationship
Or wisdom
Or knowledge
As if it were synonymous
With all of God
But asking God
To do what He wants
And trusting what happens
Is furthering His larger purpose
Even if it frustrates
Our smaller purpose
