Our Father, Part II

Another take on the “Our Father.” This one perhaps more from the heart, and less from the head.

O Divine Father
Who completes what our earthly fathering lacked
Teach us to revere and submit to your Fatherhood
That knowledge of your glory may fill us — and the earth —
as it already does the heavens.

Today, we want to eat living bread, and drink living water;
We want you to give us what we need, not what we deserve
That we may release and empower others into wholeness
rather than nursing grievances
which make us easy prey for the Evil one.

For only in submission to your authority
only by the strength of our power
and only out of the hope of your glory in us
Can we sustain being the Men you want us to be.

So be it!
