Hungry / To see God’s Kingdom come // Humbled / By my own short-sightedness and self-deception…

But / 
I’m never clear what my role is / 
When not in or near water…

My opponent / 
In the ring / 
Is bigger / 
Stronger / 
Younger / 
Nastier…

Ruining / 
Their ugliness / 
Casting off their impurities…

My flaky heartbread / 
Ignites like tinder / 
And is quickly consumed to ash…

But I cannot take the heat / 
So I cry uncle / 
Until I pull out…

Until it is / 
As hard and dry / 
As my heart…

The boundary between me / 
And my enemies / 
No longer makes sense…

Destroying / Remaking / Becoming / New foundations / For the city / That was His enemy / And mine…

The enemy knife / 
Cuts right through me / 
Shattering their altar / 
Horrifying their priestess…

Though I am alone / 
Unarmored and unarmed / 
The enemy city / 
Is threatened by my very size…

Swollen with the new names / 
Of each reconciled part of me / 
I am an easy target…

The stones thrown at me / 
By my army of alienated parts / 
Pierce my heart / 
Helping it to grow // Helping me to grow…

It pierced my heart / Rebreaking it / Like a bone that must be reset // Making it whole…

But He was using them / 
To show me / 
I needed to center myself / 
On Him / 
And them…

How come / 
He gets to have fun / 
While I do the hard work / 
Of keeping us on track?
