I am… still running.

Even though
I know
There is an oasis
Where I could rest

Not just from shame.

Also from love
For those who don’t know
To Whom they belong

And from excitement
For the future
That awaits

I listen to the Spirit.

He says:

“I AM not asking
You to stop
Or even to slow down

“I AM inviting you
To stop running
Without Me
Away from Me
On your own power”

I see Jesus.

He is driving
An enormous dune buggy

He swivels to a stop
The passenger door
Pops open

He points
To the cargo rack
In the back

He says
With a grin:

“I can get you
Everywhere you want to go
A lot faster

“But in order
For you to fit
In the passenger seat

“You must
Let go
Of your burden…”

“And let Me carry it!”
