I am… true.

I fully embrace
My assignment

Even if I don’t
Understand it

Which is why everything breaks.

I fall down
Into a pit
Of my own devising

I look for Jesus.

He is there
Waiting for me
In the pit

He always was.

The truer
Deeper
Realer Jesus

That I could not see
While I clung to the safety
Of my false understanding

Jesus looks to me.

He smiles
And says:

“Get used
To receiving breaking
As a gift”

I complain to Jesus.

Saying:

“How on earth
Can you expect me
To do that?

Jesus grins.

The earth beneath the pit
Begins to shudder
Fracture
Leak
Break

A fountain erupts.

Living water
Carries me away
Washes away my sins
Recovers the lost distance

As Jesus replies:

“By enjoying the ride!”
