I am… on the rocks.

I was so drunk
On forgiveness
From the blood of Jesus
I did not see
Where I was going

The current
Slams me heavily
Into immovable
Reality

Which starts
To tear me
Apart

I look for Jesus.

“Hey!”

I say

“That hurts!”

Jesus grins.

He says:

“Of course it does
Because that
Is the only way
You ever have
Something
To forgive”

My eyes are opened.

I am not
Just holding a cup
Of Christ’s blood

The blood
I am swimming in
Is held together
By the cup
Jesus drank

And still drinks

Jesus looks to me.

As my battered body
Starts to leak
And deflate
He says:

“Now you will learn
That the true blessedness
Of my Kingdom
Only belongs to those…”

“Who pour out spirit!”
