Continued from Death Of Your Husband

I am… a living sacrifice.

The beast
Lurking in the shadows
Is caught off guard
By my reckless surrender

The young men rush in
And stab it under its wings
Until it collapses over me

They drag the carcass off
And butcher it
While two wash and revive
My lifeless form

I open my eyes.

I am grateful
To be alive

I am proud
They vanquished the beast
Without me

I am excited
We have meat for the feast
The young woman had prepared

I look to My Father.

He says:

“You ain’t seen nothing yet!”

I turn
And see the narrow gorge
Opens up
Into a fertile valley
Full and rich
Flowing with milk and honey

And I realize
This is the land…

I was born to explore.
