Maybe identity emerges
from the tension between
what I believe about God
and God believes about me

Identity Exchange Memo
Continued from Accidental
I am… outside.
We are not
A small room
Hiding from
The inhabitants of the city
We are
A vast country
Those citizens
Are hiding from
But if I
Had no place in the city
Am I not
Even more insignificant
Outside of it?
Then a miracle occurs.
My Father
Places a linen ephod
And two stone breastpieces
Upon me
He says:
I have always seen you
As high priest
For this city
I am filled with love.
But then I realize
That the only way
Those hiding in the city
Will find their way home…
Is when I die!
To be continued
Reflection
I feel…
- Honored
- Glorified
- Horrified
- Compassion
Scripture
He must remain in the city until he has had a public trial; then he must remain protected in the city until the man who is high priest at that time has died. Afterward, he may return to his family and his own hometown.
