Continued from Circumspect

I am… roller skating on water.

At least that’s what it feels like

I barely know how to walk
On this sea of emotion

But the water itself
Seems to guide my feet
As I glide up to the strange man
Who guided me here

And stop
With surprising grace

I listen for the Spirit.

He says:

“Do not bow in worship
But kneel in submission”

I worry
That I will sink beneath the waves
If I don’t stand on my own two feet
But I hear and obey
The voice of God

And somehow
I drop my knee
Lower myself…

And find my balance.

The man smiles
And says:

“Only the humble
Can receive a crown”

He reaches down
The waters part before him
An object surfaces

But not a royal diadem…

A trident!
