Hat tip to Mitch Teemley
Regardless of who wins (or claims to win) the 2024 Election, our country is facing an avalanche of cultural, social, and technological challenges that politics alone is powerless to solve. We need a brand new social contract that fundamentally shifts how we define ourselves and relate to one another.
We need revival.
But I must confess I usually think of revival the way the Jews thought about the Messiah: as God coming in power to fix Them — so We could live in peace.
But that isn’t how it worked out.
I believe the revival God wants is primarily about transforming hearts so we love Him, others, and ourselves the way Jesus did.
Even if it means being unfairly crucified for other people’s sins. Joyfully! Because we have met the resurrected Savior, been filled with the Spirit, and seen the face of our Father. And have fallen so deeply in love with Him a cross becomes a marriage bed, uniting us with our Beloved.
I must confess I don’t love Jesus that much.
I don’t love my enemies that much.
Hell, I don’t even love myself that much.
But I want to.
I need to.
We need to.
So I invite you to join me in fasting and praying over the next four days leading up to July 4th, that God would bring revival to America. One heart at a time. Starting with mine. As I Drop The Stone of ego, pride, and self-righteousness to receive the grace of Christ.
It may sound silly.
It may sound small.
It may not sound like anything at all.
But I genuinely believe it is our only hope.
Who’s with me?
