Today’s Most Important Challenge is…
- Midwifing something
- That has never been seen
- Into the world
“A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth.”
Revelation 12:1-2 NIV
Immanuel Approach Memo
I am… an obstetrician.
Garbed in surgical mask, gown, and gloves
I feel confident
I have done this before
I know many things can go wrong
Usually I can handle it
Sometime the baby still dies
Yet that is also a part of life
But then it hits me
This is no ordinary Client
I look for Jesus.
He is the husband
Not yet a father
His Bride is asleep
From pain and exhaustion
He places a hand on her belly
Smiling at the life He implanted within
He has been waiting
Oh so very long
For it to come forth
I start sweating
She isn’t ready
The baby could kill her
The baby would die
And it would all be my fault!
To be continued
Reflection
I feel…
- Incompetent
- Out of my depth
- Intimidated
- Overwhelmed
- Terrified
Scripture
Now this is what the LORD says–He who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine!
Isaiah 43:1
