I am… undergoing surgery.
I was about to run a marathon
But Jesus stole my peace
Snuck us into an enemy camp
That turned into an orphan hospital
Where I had forgotten I was a patient
I have a fatal heart condition
Congenital
Which requires a transplant
I look for Jesus.
He is on a table
Next to mine
Preparing to give me His heart
I want to scream
Protest
Leave
But am paralyzed by the anesthetic
I’m not worth it
I can’t stand it
Please
Choose someone elseDon’t give me your heart
I’ll just break it
Then we won’t have enough
Jesus looks at me.
He smiles
Through the pain
Of His heart being extracted
“Do you still
Not understand?”
He winks
“It is only
When My heart
Is broken
In you
That it grows!”
