Hat tip to No Longer Alone

Look, an hour is coming and has already come when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and you will leave Me all alone.
Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.

John 16:32

There will come a time
When we are forsook
As all the world jeers
And says we’re a crook

Our flesh will reply
They’re being unfair
God they are evil
Please smite them there!

Because we forget
To whom we belong
And how Jesus sang
A far different song

Tis only our shame
That makes us lash out
Because our own worth
Deep down we still doubt

We all want the power
To push out our pain
So those who hurt us
Can’t do it again

Yet those who are called
To be Jesus’ friend
Are given the gift
Of much different end

For this world’s abandon
To our great surprise
Is just how our Father
Can open our eyes

To see that He’s waiting
To open the door
With sweet validation
And oh, so much more

The deepest communion
Our heart’s feared to hope
And worked hard to smother
Just so we could cope

Has become our birthright
And daily rejoice
As in lonely silence
My heart hears Love’s voice

Today I will not fear
Being silenced
