Connecting Others With Jesus – Day 3 Reflections

What about connecting with Jesus do you find:

  1. Exciting (for self and others)
  2. Apprehensive (for self and others)

My excitement and apprehension is probably the same: getting out of our left brains!

I work in a technical field (mostly men) where our dominant coping strategy is to hide from emotions behind “objective” reasons. I have been working for years to break through those defense mechanisms, also learned to respect how important they are.

Aslan is not a tame lion! There is enormous freedom in escape the walls imposed by culture and trauma, but also great risk. Our very identity — and how people rely on us — is intimately bound up with those “false egos,” and we disrupt them at our peril.

Which is why it is so vital that Immanuel Approach centers on our relationship with Jesus. There is a very real chance that discovering who we really are in Christ could cost us superficial relationships, religion, and relaxations.

But He is worth it.
