9/27 Epic Poem: Right Brain Love

Published by

Love that my flesh cannot feign
Has to come from my right brain
My left brain, it pains me to say
Pretends love to force you to stay

We all want to feel there are those
Whose affection will keep us close
But there is a boundary within
We’re triggered by their (and our) sin

And so my left brain will devise
A schema that I think is wise
To simulate agape love
To handle your heart with thick glove

The worst of this toxicity
Is I’m also lying to me
To hide from my own buried pain
Trapped in the stem of my brain

But here’s the good news for His Bride
This is the reason Christ died!
His cross is the place where we find
Love with one heart soul and mind

His blood is what cures the defect
Of the false self I protect
And so at last I can be free
To show you the vulnerable me

That’s how we can transcend the fear
That prevents us from all drawing near
By opening up our whole heart
So this world’s healing can start

Today I will love
beyond words or reason
