The reason I started this blog
Was because I wanted to log
My journey to reinvent joy
Which I had lost as a boy
I had been a slave to the Law
Obeying a God whom I saw
As with me not quite satisfied
No matter how hard that I tried
And so I did choose to rebel
(And end up in my private hell)
For worldly pleasures I’d strive
Just so I could feel half-alive
These two halves within me did war
Til I couldn’t take any more
The damage my addictions shoved
On myself and those that I loved
And so with the help of a friend
I realized I needed to mend
Those divisions deep inside me
Which I’d been refusing to see
The Self that I’d built up so strong
Shocking! Turned out to be wrong.
The reason my joy had to die
Was that it served the wrong “I”
And so far from just being cruel
God used my pain as a tool
To force me to dig deep inside
And find out I’m loved as His Bride
And this is the Word now made flesh
That I built this blog to show fresh
When I share His cross sacrificed
I’m radically happy in Christ!
Today I will pursue deeply-rooted happiness
For me and others I love
Despite the superficial pain
Radically Happy
