4/20 Limericks: Betraying Forgiveness

Standard

It can feel like eating raw kale
When I need to forgive betrayal
It sticks in my craw
To bypass the law
And grace those who want me to fail

Yet Jesus was not so afraid
The night that He was betrayed
What truth did He know
That caused Him to sow
Communion with one who got paid?

The paradox I need to grieve
Is Jesus was destined to leave
God made Himself choose
A life that He’d lose
To friends who were born to deceive

The only way I win this fight
Is NOT holding Self on so tight
Betrayal’s the gift
That heals this world’s rift
By opening me to God’s light
