Radically Happy

We are so easily infatuated
And subtly captivated
By the powers of this world

The mimetic desires
At the heart of our communities
Even Christian ones

Sanguine Status.
Choleric Achievement.
Melancholy Knowledge.
Phlegmatic Influence.

These too are gifts from God
The world needs them to survive

But to trust in them
Or worse yet
To sacrifice
Our unity in Christ
To achieve them
Is to serve
In the courts of Satan

But seek first
The power of God
To transform us
Into His Image (Romans 8:29)

Only then
Can we bear the cross
Of Shame
Failure
Folly
Ostracism

Knowing
That in so doing
We unleash
His Power
On the earth
