It may seem I’m mad just to dare it

StandardLord, though we’re made from the dust
We long to build towers of trust
A shelter from all earthly storms
A safe place to play with new forms

I am part of an ethnic enclave in a big city.
In many ways, it is exemplary.
The streets are safe.
The children are happy.
The community is unified.
But I discover this comes with a price.

StandardIt’s hard enough
Being baptized by water

Do what I oughter
The baptism of fire’s

Reforged and refined
To burn out the devil
Only a passion
For union with you
Could make such extremis
