2023: Our Year of the Lord’s Favor
I want to be known as Your favor-ite
Celebrating how we two are tight
If we want to inherit heaven
We must learn to recognize leaven
Each small compromise
That clouds up our eyes
Til we can’t tell cursin’ from blessin’
The reason we’re trapped by this thing
Is we have made comfort our king
My power ensures
My pain quickly cures
Regardless of Your suffering
So we must learn to face our hurt
To let Christ His Kingdom assert
As He heals our eyes
We soon recognize
Our crosses to crowns He’ll convert!
Continued from Mrs Jesus #3/7: Wed-ness Day
Friday, I have a date with a tree.
Today I am getting my nails done.
I am terrified.
It’s days like these I ask myself why I ever married Jesus…
As children, we need to be Comfort-Accepted
Where every cry of our heart is protected
We have to feel we’re the star of our story
So that we learn we are worthy of glory
But Challenge-Accepted is for the mature
Once that identity has been made sure
Losing our life by taking on risk
Is how we raise our own true obelisk
Escaping conflicted comfort…
It is natural
To seek comfort
In the arms of Adam
Falling back
On the familiar patterns
And role models of culture
“We have forgotten — or perhaps never really understood — what it means to trust that God is in control.
Politics matters.
But we have forgotten that good political leaders were supposed to be our gift to the world.
Now we think they are something the world has to give us, so we can truly practice our faith — or feel good about ourselves.
So whenever we see a leader — inside or outside the church — who doesn’t seem to honor our truth, we are filled with anguish; and act like God has abandoned us… ”
