- Becoming, Making, and Gathering
HELP ME HAVE FUN.
BLESS MY NEW TEACHERS.
MAKE ME LIKE JESUS.
Thank you for such a fun summer.
Help me to do a good job in Pinocchio, and have fun with old and new friends at Summer Camps.
Help Daddy to bring the Kingdom of God to his new job at Matterport.
Help Mommy to enjoy the time she spends with work, family, and the house.
Help Anjali to stay healthy and learn lots of new skills.
Help us all to be kind to each other, and become responsible enough to get a dog by Christmas.
I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
Our Father in heaven,
help us to honor your name.
Come and set up your kingdom,
so that everyone on earth will obey you,
as you are obeyed in heaven.
Give us each day the food we need.
Forgive us for doing wrong,
as we forgive others.
Keep us from being tempted
and protect us from the evil one.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
A. Sinner’s Prayer
I confess that you love me better than I can ever love myself.
Please forgive me for putting myself first instead of loving you with all my heart, soul, mind and strength, and my neighbor as myself.
I am sorry for not listening to and obeying you. I open my heart to receive and trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord.
Make me like Jesus through your Spirit, Word, Body, and Blood.
I ask this in the name of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit.
B. Brief Catechism
Dedicated to our wives, and The Church.
Act 1: The War
Scene 1: The Gnomes
The gnomes invaded the continent almost exactly one year after Prince Kit Charming married Cinderella, now known as Princess Ella.
“My son,” said the King. “While I gladly gave you a year to enjoy life with your beautiful bride, It is now time for you to take on the duties of royalty.”
Oh no, thought Ella. Will he send Kit away to the war?
I want everyone to know
I am your precious daughter.
Thank you for loving me
and giving me everything I need.
Help me to treat everyone kindly
even when I don’t get my way.
Please make me like Jesus.
I need your help.
Please fill me with your Holy Spirit.
Teach me self-control.
Show me your love, joy, peace & patience.
Help me be a kind, good, gentle and faithful friend.
I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
Inspired by Galatians 5.
[This is not The Lord’s Prayer. This is just our Daddy’s prayer.]
We want everyone to know you are a Good Father.
Help us all to be happy by obeying you.
Thank you for giving us what we need
even if not what we want.
Help us be kind instead of angry
when other people hurt us
because that is how you forgive us.
Keep us safe from harm, even when it hurts.
Because you love us like Jesus.
I want to have a great day.
Watch over me as I learn and play.
Help me to listen and obey
my teachers, my parents, and you.
Remind me to always be a knight
Show me how to do what’s right
And walk away from every fight.
In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Matthew 6:9-13 (CEV)
Our Father in heaven, help us to honor your name.
Come and set up your kingdom, so that everyone on earth
will obey you, as you are obeyed in heaven.
Give us our food for today.
Forgive us for doing wrong, as we forgive others.
Keep us from being tempted and protect us from evil.
I’ve been wrestling with how and when to encourage my children to make a profession of faith. I recently realized that God used an incremental process to reveal Himself to us:
- Father as Creator & Judge
- Jesus as Savior & Lord
- Spirit as Comforter & Counselor
It seems like that same progression might make sense for young children. It may be a while before they can understand the idea of Christ dying for their sins. But even as toddlers, they already understand (even if they don’t practice) the idea of obeying a father who created them. Why not use that as a springboard for conversations about submitting to God?
At Catalyst One Day, Pastor Andy Stanley explained how North Point Community Church‘s Sunday School curriculum focused on hammering home a small set of basic truths at each stage of life. Surprisingly, perhaps due to the decentralized nature of North Point’s ministries, I couldn’t find them written down in one place. Here’s what I’ve been able to compile.
