“What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self?”
Luke 9:25
It may seem to you
That I pick a nit
Yet still I must ask
What my soul’s for-fit?

What my soul’s for-fit?
But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.
John 1:12-13 NLT
They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God
That which cannot be borne
Must be born again
Only those hearts that are torn
Can learn to beat without sin
The work of God’s Word
Is that He be heard
By which I mean
That we can be seen
The point of His letter
Is to love Him better
By helping me see
Just how He loves me
This sounds very nice
But hides a steep price
For what He wants most
Is I give up my ghost!
I cannot tell a lie:
God wants me to die
So I can be more
Like the One I adore
This is the truth
He’s shown us since Ruth:
My world must be torn
So that Christ can be born
The craziest part
Is that this is the start
Of how God heals my heart
With His Word torn apart
“Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared…” – I Corinthians 15:1-5a
