Radically Happy

I barely know how to walk / On this sea of emotion // But the water itself / Seems to guide my feet / As I glide up to the strange man / Who guided me here…

I don’t remember a time / When I wasn’t hiding / Behind the wheel of my car // I’m not even sure / I know how to walk / Much less on water…

I fall to my knees / 
Has this been Jesus / 
All this time / 
And I didn’t recognize Him?

The calm man who commandeered my car / 
Seems to be giving me random directions / 
So we are effectively driving in circles // Why did he bother disrupting my life / 
If he wasn’t in a hurry…

A strange man gets into the passenger seat / And straps himself in / Then calmly tells me: / “Turn right at the next light”

He raises His hand / The stones freeze in midair / Before they hurt me…

A billboard / 
One hundred feet in the air / 
In the middle of nowhere / 
For a place I’ve never been / 
But still consider Home…

I am stuck. // In the space / 
Between nothing and something/ 
Earth and heaven / 
Being and not being / 
Now and eternity…

The differential gravity / Between my head and my heart / Pull me in opposite directions // I am strung out / Thinned / Spaghettified…

Stars strewn like pebbles / 
Along a path / 
Prepared for me / 
In advance…

Time has rewound / To before the Big Bang / Where there is no space / Matter and energy / Are indistinguishable // And nothing / Has any identity / Especially me…

Tunneling through time and space / 
After Jesus freed me / 
From the comfort and security / 
That was holding me down…

I thought I’d be in a spaceship / 
But instead / 
God the Father / 
Launched me directly / 
Into space / 
On my couch…

I’m not lazy / 
I was told to wait / 
Though I didn’t know why…
