Radically Happy

I see her / 
Reach for an Apple / 
Poisoned / 
With the Knowledge / 
Of Good and Evil…

The broken Body of The Prince / Including me / Falls like rain over the clearing / Over Cinderella / Over His horse // She is frightened / But the horse eats it up / Literally…

Every crumb / 
Of the house / 
Seems to hate each other / 
And violently flies apart / 
At the speed of light…

Inside / 
There are no mangers / 
But the walls / 
Are good enough to eat / 
And magically renew themselves / 
So the building doesn’t collapse…

I am afraid / 
I will be shattered to bits / 
Or permeated with splinters…

My broken heart / 
Is somehow strong enough / 
To power my Pegasus wings / 
And carry Jesus into the sky…

I / Have only been a horse / Instead of a mouse / For a couple days // They / Have been trained / For generations…

The Prince walks over / 
And lays His face next to mine / 
And speaks soothingly to me…

Out of the rage / 
At my smallness / 
And impotence…

I dare not look / 
The Great Prince in the eye / 
Despite His kindly greeting / 
And honoring words…

I am house mouse / I don’t know what the Prince looks like / He would never notice or talk to me / And I wouldn’t know what to say If He did…

I try to be her friend / 
She makes clothes for me / 
But still / 
She cries herself to sleep / 
Every night…

As I lay down / 
In worship / 
Doing absolutely nothing / 
The love of God transforms me…

I lie on my back / 
Helpless / 
Waiting / 
For what feels like forever…

I know I will need her help / But I cannot see her // And even if I did / There are no words I can speak / That she can hear…

Me / 
The purebred / 
The mongrels / 
Who once fought us / 
And themselves…

Wagging my tail / 
As the Rottweiler / 
Enters the alley / 
Respectfully sniffs the purebred / 
And looks at the mongrels / 
Who used to threaten me…
