Ask what lie is anchoring me to the clock.

MIC Check

Today’s Most Important Challenge is…

  • Drinking the diaphoric cup
  • Of intimacy with Christ
  • So you can too

Immanuel Approach Memo

I am… buying.

But nobody
Wants to drink with me

I don’t even want
To drink with myself

No.

That’s a lie
Both are a lie

Jesus
Wants to drink with me

And I
Am afraid
Of drinking with Him
From His cup

I look for Jesus.

He is the bartender
His Father owns the bar

Everything
Has already been paid for

Yet I feel safer
Just drinking the tap water
Of intellectualism
Dissociation
Solipsism
Self-soothing
Selfishness

Jesus looks to me.

He pours out
A shot glass
Of His own blood
And slides it to me
Saying:

“Closing time
Is almost here
Are you finally ready…”

“To forgive yourself?”

To be continued

Reflection

I feel…

  • Convicted
  • Seen
  • Cowardly
  • Self-isolating

Scripture

A soul’s redemption is too costly and precious
for anyone to pay with earthly
wealth.
The price to pay is never
enough
to purchase eternal life for even one, to keep them out of hell.
The brightest and best, along with the foolish and senseless,
God sees that they all will die
one day,
leaving their houses and wealth to others.
Even though they name streets and lands after
themselves,
hoping to have their memory endure beyond the
grave,
becoming legends in their own minds,
their home address is now the
cemetery!
