I am… lifted.

Up
And down

The doorway I walked through
To reconcile my two mothers
Was an elevator

When I descend to the depths
I see that they were both born
From the knowledge of good and evil
Which cast me out from Eden

As we ascend to the heights
I see that they are two threads
Which together form a tapestry
Of the face of God

But only
When stitched together
With the blood of Christ

I listen to the Spirit.

He says:

“Your job
Is not to judge
But to notice
Without judging”

He breathes on me.

I see
That my two mothers
Are one person
Cleaved in two
To make room
For a third

And I realize
To my horror
That the only reason
Good and Evil
Were ever divided
Was…

To make space for me!
