The mummified form
Turns away
From my awakening kiss

I look to My Father.

Shouting:

“This isn’t my fault
Why did you command me
To do something
That failed?”

My Father looks to me.

He gently points out:

“I merely told you
What needed to be done”

He nods approvingly.

“To your credit
You have cultivated the habit
Of quickly taking action
To push through your revulsion
Towards something I want”

He grimaces.

“To your shame
You use this
To avoid dwelling in the tension
Or understanding the source
Of your disgust”

He points to the corpse.

“If you would kiss her
You must first earn the right
By understanding what…”

“It feels like to be her!”

“Guide me away from temptation and doing evil. Save me from sinful habits and from keeping company with those who are experts in evil. Help me not to share in their sin in any way!
When one of your godly ones corrects me or one of your faithful ones rebukes me, I will accept it like an honor I cannot refuse. It will be as healing medicine that I swallow without an offended heart.
