Yahweh Approach Memo

I am… flourishing.

God has planted me
As a boundary marker
At the corner of His courtyard

Every day
He waters me
With the Oil of Blessing

Every night
He prunes me
With the Cut of Forgiveness
In His Blood

I look to My Father.

I ask:

“Why
If you have tended me
So faithfully
Do I seem to bear
So little fruit?”

My Father grins.

He says:

“That’s easy
It is because
You are not
And never were
A fruit tree”

I am shocked.

I object:

“But
All the metaphors
For your Kingdom
Seem to involve fruit”

I whine:

“If I am not a fruit tree
Then what am I?”

My Father grins
And says:

“You are nuts!”
