I tell Jesus:

“How can you ask me
To bring in the harvest
When I am a cowman
Instead of a farmer?”

I pause
I take a deep breath
Then…

I wait for Jesus.

He says:

“I am not asking you
To change who you truly are”

He points to a schoolhouse.

I see the teacher
A girl I loved and lost
A long time ago

Jesus looks to me.

He says:

“I am telling you
To be true to your heart…”

“By marrying the farmer’s daughter!”
