I am… a cowboy.

Returning to the homestead
After a long season
Of gunslinging

Because those I love
And am estranged from
Are under attack

I look for Jesus.

He appears
As as a man in black
With a black scarf
Covering His mouth
Like an outlaw’s

He draws and twirls
His silver pistols

He points them at me.

Saying:

“If you want
To save your family
You must learn
To not fight…”

“But to die!”
