I am… humiliated.

My friends and I
Traveled back to our homes
To make peace
With the women we love

But they resented
Our abandonment
And refuse
To even talk with us

I look for Jesus.

He says:

“I know
This breaks your heart
But that
Is the point”

Jesus opens our eyes.

We see
Inside our broken hearts
And recognize
The idols
We had hidden there

The judgement
Shame
Self-loathing

That had caused us to leave
And tainted our return
Even when trying
To obey Jesus

Jesus looks to us.

He show us
His own broken heart

Hollowed out
By His love for us

He points
To our idols
And asks:

“Will you give them to me…”

“So I can destroy them?”
