I am… unhappily empowered.

The angel has offered me
An impossible choice
In how to save those
Who asked me to lead them

Either sacrifice him
Or allow him to
Break up my heart

Surprisingly
My Heart speaks first:

“Look!”

He says

“I know
You and Brain
Want to keep me safe”

Heart looks to me.

He has
Tears in his eyes
But his smile
Is brighter than the sun
As he says:

“Do you not know
Have you not heard
That a Heart
Is never truly alive…”

“Until you give it away!”

Then the Spirit of Yahweh rushed upon Jephthah and empowered him. He and his men marched through Gilead and Manasseh and returned to Mizpah in Gilead, and from there, he stalked the Ammonites.
Jephthah promised Yahweh: “If you give me victory over the Ammonites, I will offer up to you as a burnt offering the first thing that comes out of my house to greet me when I return in victory. I will sacrifice that one as an offering to you.”
