Angel Approach Memo
Continued from Bear It No Longer
I am… swearing.
My recalcitrant brain
Honestly believed
It was doing its job
Of keeping me safe
By preventing me from seeing
Where God wanted me to go
I want to hate it
But it is so sincere and heartbroken
I find myself speechless
Then Donkey speaks.
He walks over to Brain
And says:
“It’s okay
I get it
People think you
Are just being stubborn
But they’d react the same way
If they could see what you saw”
My Brain sobs.
He collapses
On Donkey’s neck
It is kind of embarrassing
But also sweet
The Angel coughs awkwardly.
And suddenly I remember
His job was to kill Brain
Oops
I turn on him
“Look!”
I say
“I know you were sent to kill him
But can’t you see
That he has spoken his truth
And faced mine”
I take a deep breath
And plead with him:
“He doesn’t have to die!”
The angel stares at me.
He says:
“Chill out
Man
I only wanted to warn you
To turn around”
With a sinking heart
I slowly look around
And see
We are being surrounded…
By lawless mercenaries!
To be continued

Scripture
Yahweh raised up a brave, fearless champion from Gilead to deliver Israel. His name was Jephthah, and he was the son of a prostitute.
Judges 11:1-3 TPT
His father Gilead had other sons by his wife, and when they grew up, they forced Jephthah to leave home. They said to him, “You will inherit nothing of our father’s wealth because you are the son of another woman.”
Jephthah fled from his half brothers and lived in the land of Tob. There he recruited a gang of lawless mercenaries who traveled around with him.
