Immanuel Approach Memo
Continued from Enemy Troops Turn
I am… dismayed.
Our shared songs to Jesus
Broke the hearts of our enemies
But now we are bickering
Over how to divide the spoils
I look for Jesus.
He is no longer
In the midst
Of what are now our former enemies
He is not visible
Among the factions
Clamoring for their rights
He is with the broken-hearted
Gazing in sorrow
And self-identification
At those they once fought
Unseen by those
Still arguing
He leads the fallen
One by one
To those who will receive them
As equals
As friends…
As fellow children of God!

Scripture
Gideon called to arms men from the tribes of Naphtali, Asher, and both parts of Manasseh, and they rallied and pursued the Midianites. Then Gideon sent messengers through the entire hill country of Ephraim, saying, “Join us in the fight against the Midianites. Deny them access to the River Jordan and the streams as far as Beth Barah, and prevent them from crossing over.”
Judges 7:23-8:1 TPT
The men of Ephraim came together, and they held the River Jordan and the streams as far as Beth Barah. They captured the two Midianite chiefs, Oreb and Zeeb. They executed Oreb at Oreb Rock and Zeeb at Zeeb Winepress. While the Ephraimites continued to pursue the Midianites, they brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon, who was now east of the Jordan.
The men of Ephraim got into a heated argument with Gideon and complained to him, “Why didn’t you tell us you were going to fight the Midianites? Why did you do that to us?”
