Continued from Face to Face

I am… a worm.

My fall to earth
Drilled me into the depths

Pulverized my bones
Making me a being
Of pure muscle
And digestion

I have no mind
And no eyes
Yet somehow…

I look for Jesus.

He is
The food I feed on

My senses
Are finely tuned
To smell His aroma
To feel the trails
Of His wounds

It is
Simultaneously
The most pathetic
And most glorious
Role in all creation

To be the worm
Feeding on the body
Of Christ

When I am done…

Jesus speaks.

I have no ears to hear
But I can sense
The earth resounding
With the sound of His voice
As He says…

“It is time… Rise up!”
